Y9 and 10: Boys Whitecard Incursion

On the 7th May, the Year 9A and Year 10A male students undertook the CPCWHS1001 – Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry course with Origin Institute. This training leads to the General Construction Induction Card, commonly known as the White Card, which is a mandatory certification for anyone seeking to work in the
construction industry in Australia.
Throughout the course, students engaged in both theoretical and practical learning activities, gaining valuable knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements. They developed an understanding of hazard identification, risk management strategies, safe work practices, and emergency response procedures. All students successfully completed the
training and obtained their White Cards.
Holding a White Card offers students a range of important benefits. It is a legal requirement for anyone wishing to work on a construction site in Australia, making it an essential qualification for entering the industry. Possessing a White Card also enhances employability, as employers cannot legally allow workers without one to access construction sites. Through the training, students develop valuable skills in identifying hazards, managing risks, and responding effectively to emergencies, helping to create safer workplaces and reduce the likelihood of accidents and injuries. In addition, the White Card is nationally recognised and valid across all Australian states and territories, providing students with greater flexibility and employment opportunities throughout Australia.
Congratulations to all students on this achievement and on taking an important step towards future employment opportunities in the construction industry.
