Principal's Message
Words from the College Principal, Issue 4, Term 2, 2026.
Assalamualaikum warahmatullah wabarakatuh.
Dear Parents, Guardians and Students,
Alhamdulillah, what an incredible second half of Term 2 and successful end to Semester 1 it has been! As we bring this chapter to a close, I am pleased to take this opportunity to reflect on the many meaningful experiences and memorable celebrations our students have shared, and while the term began with a multitude of special occasions for our students here at ICOM, the second half proved just as full, packed with a wonderful array of events and experiences across both Primary and Secondary school.
A true highlight of the term was the blessed occasion of Eid al-Adha, which fell right in the middle of these final weeks. In honour of this sacred time, both our Primary and Secondary schools came together to celebrate Hajj Week, which proved to be wonderful and spiritually enriching experience for students and staff alike. The week was filled with engaging activities, including the much-loved Hajj Dress Up Day and Camel Rides, which brought the spirit and atmosphere of Hajj to life across our campuses. Our Secondary students took part in special workshops, exploring the beautiful art of Arabic Calligraphy among other meaningful activities, while our Primary students enjoyed a range of fun lunchtime experiences including the Hajj Tawaf Craft and Hajj Pebble Decoration. Subhanallah, it was heartwarming to see the spirit of Eid al-Adha alive and well throughout ICOM. Experiences such as these play an important role in deepening our students' understanding and appreciation of the significance of our Islamic holidays, and I hope these lessons remain with them for years to come, insha Allah.
Throughout this time, our schedules have been filled with a wonderful range of incursions and excursions. Our Secondary students had the valuable opportunity to attend ICOM's Meet the Professionals event, which we hope inspired them as they consider their futures and provided plenty of insightful guidance to take with them. Our Year 8 students enjoyed a memorable visit to Kryal Castle, while our Year 11 Visual Communication Design students attended the Top Designs Forum and Exhibition at the Melbourne Museum. Our mainstream Year 10 students also took part in an enjoyable Melbourne City Tour excursion. It was wonderful to see our students engaging with learning beyond the classroom in such meaningful and enriching ways.
As this semester came to an end, students across both Primary and Secondary sat their End of Semester examinations, an important academic milestone in the school year.
We commend all our students for the focus, maturity, and resilience they demonstrated throughout this period, and we acknowledge our dedicated staff for their continued support in preparing students with confidence and care. May Allah (SWT) reward their efforts and grant them success, In Shaa Allah.
Our Primary students wrapped up the final week of Term 2 in the most joyful way with Literacy Week. The week was filled with creative and engaging experiences, including the entertaining Wild West Sheriff Mystery Play and a special incursion with author Joel McKerrow, which inspired students to explore the power of words and storytelling. The week concluded with our much-anticipated Character Dress Up Day, where students chose their favourite book character from a storybook of their choice and brought them to life in the most wonderful fashion. It was a truly delightful way to close out the term, and a beautiful reminder of the creativity and love of learning we strive to nurture in every ICOM student.
Finally, I extend my warmest wishes to our students embarking on some truly special experiences. Our Year 12 students have headed off to their well-deserved retreat, a valuable opportunity to recharge and bond as they approach the final stretch of their schooling journey. Our Year 10 students have begun their International Leadership Trip to Malaysia, an enriching and once-in-a-lifetime experience that will broaden their horizons and nurture invaluable leadership skills. We also keep our Year 9 students in our thoughts and prayers as they embark on their unforgettable Turkey and Umrah Trip deeply meaningful journey that beautifully blends religious reflection with cultural discovery. We wish them all the very best as they make the most of these wonderful opportunities.
As we reflect on all that has been achieved this semester, I am filled with immense gratitude and pride for our students, staff, and families. It has been a term of spiritual growth and academic dedication, and I have no doubt our students will carry these experiences with them into the semester ahead.
I wish all our families a safe, restful, and enjoyable break, and I look forward to welcoming everyone back for what promises to be another enriching semester, In Shaa Allah.
May Allah (SWT) continue to guide, protect, and bless our entire community here at ICOM, In Shaa Allah.
