Secondary: Anti Bullying Campaign

During Term 2, all secondary students took part in anti-bullying workshops tailored to each year level to increase awareness, encourage respectful relationships, and strengthen our whole school approach towards bullying.
Students in Years 7 and 8 explored the foundations of bullying prevention, learning about the definition of bullying, including repeated behaviour and power imbalances. They discussed different forms of bullying, including verbal, physical, social, and cyberbullying, while also learning to recognise warning signs and identify appropriate ways to seek support
and report concerns.
Students in Years 9 and 10 engaged in deeper discussions about bullying behaviours such as harassment, exclusion, rumours, intimidation, and online abuse. The sessions highlighted the impact bullying can have on mental health and wellbeing and provided students with practical strategies to respond assertively, support others and report incidents safely.
For students in Years 11 and 12, the focus shifted towards leadership and responsibility within peer groups. Students examined bullying dynamics, including the roles of bystanders and upstanders, and explored how these roles can either contribute to or prevent bullying. The sessions emphasised the importance of developing upstander skills, challenging harmful behaviours, and fostering an inclusive and respectful school culture.
The incursions encouraged students across all year levels to reflect on their role in creating a positive school community and reinforced the message that everyone has a part to play in preventing bullying and supporting one another.
