Level Five - Sovereign Hill

Our Level 5 excursion to Sovereign Hill was such a fun adventure! We started the day with a two-hour bus ride to Ballarat, and when we arrived, it felt like we had stepped back in time to the 1850s gold rush. There was so much to see and do! We tried gold panning in the creek, explored a real underground mine, and watched cool demonstrations like candle making, blacksmithing, and gold melting. We walked along the old-style streets, visited shops, and talked to people dressed up like they lived in the olden days. It was a great way to learn about history while having heaps of fun!

Here's a few words from what the grade 5's thought about our excursion:

My favourite part of Sovereign Hill was the Red Hill Mine Tour because the story was interesting and memorable, and it was fun with my friends in the dark! - Laith 5P

I really liked the gold pour because it was an interesting experience. I learnt heaps of stuff about the process of smelting gold. - Oscar 5P

Sovereign hill was fun, and the part I liked the most was the gold pour, because it was cool to see a metal so hot it was able to be pour. Overall I think Sovereign Hill was a fun and exciting excursion, though the bus ride was quite long. - Caleb 5K
