Level Three

In Week 3, Level 3 students visited the Manningham council offices as part of their Theme unit learning all about rules, laws, types of governments and what it means to be a good citizen. Students met Mayor Deidre Diamante and took part in a mock council meeting, where some had the chance to act as current council or community members. They also toured the community garden, participating in preparing the garden beds for new seedlings and planting different types of bean seeds to grow at home. Students enjoyed visiting the Doncaster Library, learning all about the different languages and book genres, and resources available.

I loved that I got to sit in a councillor’s chair. It was cool to be in a pretend council meeting. (Nate)

My favourite thing from the excursion was meeting the mayor because I got to sit next to her and have a council meeting with other students. (Makayla)

I enjoyed the library visit because we did a scavenger hunt. (Minato)

I liked that we could play a searching game in the library and that we got stickers at the end. (Annabel)
