Level Four

What a great start to Term Two we have had in Year 4.
Reading- We have been focussing on monitoring. Self-monitoring is being aware of your own thinking when you read. A really important part of self-monitoring is knowing when you have stopped understanding what you have read. If you can recognise when this happens, you can use a strategy such as rereading to fix it.
Writing- Our students have recently explored information reports. We have looked at the structure of information reports, ways to engage the reader and different features to include to help explain written language. Our students did a fantastic job researching information, paraphrasing this into their own words and using their ICT skills to publish their piece.
Congratulations to Clara from 4J on this wonderful information report on sparrows.
Maths- We have started a unit on addition and subtraction. We have investigated a variety of strategies through games and activities.
We wanted to share this amazing work from Benita and Max in 4E.
Integrated Studies- We have been learning about Geography. We have learnt about continents, different animals in different countries, and the way land differs in different countries
Author Visit- We recently were fortunate to have author Lisa Keskinen visit each Year 4 class to discuss the process of writing her book, Billy Bobbarooni.
Let's share some student feedback on the book-
Chloe 4K- I like the mystery in the book as you don’t know what’s going to happen next. It was hard to find the clues as to who wrote the mystery words.
Regina 4K- I like Billy Bobbarooni because the characters are interesting. I like Professor Portman because he is funny and I like his riddles.
Nick 4K- I like mystery books and the book has a lot of detail. In like reading a book as a whole class.
