Templestowe RSL

On Tuesday the 29th April, 2025, the Templestowe and Doncaster RSLs held an ANZAC service for many schools from around the Manningham area. The grade 5 teachers selected 11 students to attend and two representatives to lay a floral wreath. We were privileged to hear our local and federal government representatives speak, along with other dignitaries and veterans.
Maksym 5H - The ANZAC ceremony was a really fun and informative excursion. My favourite part was when Keith Wolahan got to speak about his story of meeting a 100 year old world war 2 soldier. Honestly, the part where it was excellent was when we had to put up a bunch of flowers. Overall, I really enjoyed the short visit to see other schools and pay respects to our fighters in WW2.
Oscar 5P - The ANZAC ceremony was quite informative and gave me a lot to think about about the ANZACS who fought in WWI
Jason 5A - I loved the entire experience. The ceremony was interesting and music was very entertaining.
Giselle 5K - The ANZAC service was a sad moment for us to remember the soldiers who had sacrificed their life for the country. It is a great opportunity for us to learn about the past and take it on to the next generation. The service was great because everybody was paying respect for the elders who died for us. It was a incredible memory and I am so grateful to be chosen to go!
Mia 5H - On the day we went to the ANZAC memorial, we walked to the gravel car park then the bus pulled up and we all hopped in. It took about 20 minutes to get there then we all settled in and watched the magic happen! There were some speeches from some special guests. I learnt from this experience that Australia has a history of helping other countries, along with New Zealand. It was a special day to be apart of.
Aleeza 5P - The ANZAC ceremony was amazing I loved learning all about the people who fought for our country in WW1, overall it was amazing!
Mary 5K - Going to the ANZAC service was very exiting we got to meet the Mayor, State member of parliament, and the national federal member of parliament. They told us how the ANZACs sacrificed themself so people now can live happily in their country. the people there were amazing and nice. I'm very grateful for being able to go. We learned a lot and enjoyed the chips which were donated by the local IGA!
Elie 5K - The ANZAC service was great since everyone was paying respect and not talking while the locals were talking. The soldiers were very cool since they stood still for around 2 hours! They must work very hard.
Anna 5A - At the ANZAC Memorial we watched the ceremony and thought about our past defence force soldiers. We also laid the wreath and listened to the speeches.
