Wellbeing and Enrichment Programs at DPS
Last week at assembly, Stephen, the SWPBS Area Coach for the Inner East, proudly presented our school with the Bronze Award for our work in implementing the School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) framework. SWPBS is a whole-school approach that promotes positive behaviour, creates a safe and supportive learning environment, and helps all students succeed.
We are proud of this award, which recognises our commitment to building a strong, consistent culture of respect, responsibility and resilience across the school. It reflects the dedication of our staff, students and community in creating a positive and inclusive school environment.
This week, all year levels enjoyed Being Brave, an engaging and inclusive wellbeing performance by Brainstorm Productions. The show encouraged courage and resilience in a fun, meaningful way, aligning with our school’s strong focus on student wellbeing. All students were engaged, had lots of fun and learned valuable lessons throughout the performance.
At Doncaster Primary School, we are committed to creating an inclusive environment where every student feels safe, valued and supported to thrive. A key part of this is our dedicated Educational Support (ES) staff, who work closely with students, teachers, and families to provide personalised support. We thank our ES team Wendy M, Wendy F, Joan, Hope, Ahu and Jed for their continued care and commitment to our students.
Our Everest Program started this term! It runs every Thursday afternoon throughout this term and next, providing an enriching learning experience for our high-ability learners in Years 3–6. Led by a dedicated team of teachers—Mrs El-Bay, Mr O’Bryan, Miss George, Mrs Keen and Mr Kelly—the program offers students the opportunity to be challenged beyond the regular curriculum.
These carefully selected students engage in deep, inquiry-based learning that encourages critical thinking, creativity and problem-solving. The sessions are designed to stretch their abilities and build confidence as independent learners. The Everest Program reflects our commitment to nurturing excellence and supporting every student to reach their highest potential.
