Middle School

Year 8 and 9 Parent Teacher Nights
It has been wonderful to see the high level of attendance at our Year 8 and 9 Parent Teacher evenings during the past two weeks. The purpose of these evenings is to help set academic goals for semester two and devise strategies to achieve academic improvement. I encourage all families to reflect on their son’s current level of academic progress and look forward to Semester Two as an opportunity to maximise the academic opportunities at our school.
Year 8 into 9 Subject Selection
Our Year 8 students have received their subject selection booklets for 2027. These documents provide detailed information regarding all Electives offered at our school for Year 9 in 2027. The large size of our school allows us to offer a wide curriculum. I encourage all our Year 8 students and parents to take time to carefully select the most appropriate Electives for next year.
To assist in this process, we will also be holding a Parent and Student Subject Selection information evening on Thursday, 23 July, from 6:00pm-7:30pm in the EBC. The focus of this session will be on providing an opportunity to ask questions of our Faculty Head Teachers regarding the Elective offering in their KLAs.
It would be wonderful to see all our Year 8 families at this evening.
Check-in Assessment
This will be our final mandated assessment for Middle School students in 2026. Check-in is prepared by the Department of Education and is a diagnostic tool to assist our school in planning our teaching and learning activities. All Middle School students will complete both a Numeracy and Literacy assessment. Please note that parents and students will not receive any results from his assessment.
All students will be required to bring a fully charged laptop to school on the day of their assessment.
The schedule for Check-in assessment is as follows:
Year 8: Period 1 and 2 on Monday, 27 July, 2026. (Week 2, Term 3)
Year 9: Period 1 and 2 on Tuesday, 28 July 2026. (Week 2, Term 3)
Year 7: Period 3 and 4 on Tuesday, 28 July 2026. (Week 2, Term 3)
