Tanken Centre Excursion
This term, our Year 10 Accelerated Japanese students had the exciting opportunity to visit the Tanken Centre for an immersive language experience. Throughout the day, students were encouraged to communicate in Japanese with their teachers and peers, building their confidence and developing their practical language skills in an authentic setting.
Students participated in a range of engaging, inclusive and educational activities, all conducted in Japanese. They also explored a traditional Japanese home, experiencing features such as tatami flooring, shoji sliding doors and a beautiful Japanese garden. These authentic cultural experiences, combined with interactive language activities, expanded students' vocabulary, strengthened their communication skills and deepened their understanding of Japanese culture.

Year 12 HSC Japanese Continuers – Speaking Day
On 20 June, we hosted our annual Year 12 HSC Japanese Continuers Speaking Day to help students prepare for the HSC Oral Examination. Students welcomed their peers from Cheltenham Girls High School, James Ruse Agricultural High School, Carlingford High School and Muirfield High School for a day of collaborative learning and language practice.
Throughout the day, students developed their speaking skills through a variety of interactive activities with their peers before participating in two formal HSC-style speaking sessions with teachers from other schools. These mock interviews closely mirrored the format and expectations of the HSC Oral Examination, providing students with valuable feedback and the opportunity to build confidence ahead of their final assessment.
To conclude the day, students enjoyed a delicious lunch of ramen and sushi, followed by green tea ice cream, a fitting way to celebrate a productive day of language learning.
