Prefects 2026-2027

Spending two days at Collaroy, the incoming Prefect Body for 2026-2027 reflected on the role of leadership, working in teams while planning their goals for the years to come. Three prefects, Marcello, Thomas and Oli P share their key take-aways from camp with us below.
Marcello
For the whole Prefect camp, we learnt so many life lessons and skills. Teaching me about the importance of becoming a Prefect and what they represent in the school, and personally my most enjoyable experience was doing the school war cry with my mates!!! Doing the war cry with them felt kind of spectacular and dramatic! We all used our voices in one, using all of our vocalising strength and energy, to bring it all together, and somehow we managed to do it!!!
At the end of our camp, Mr Leggo picked up a rock and a leaf to explain a metaphor. The rock represented what "rocked" for us, including highlights, the new things we learned, and the leadership skills we gained. The leaf represented what we wanted to "leaf" behind; our fears, worries, and anything that was holding us back. What rocked me was being with all the boys together, learning and bonding. What I chose to ‘leaf’ behind was my stressful feelings, and begin to focus on being a better young man!!!
Thomas
As a school we empower students with the knowledge, skills and confidence to be effective citizens of the community. We do this by instilling the values of respect, responsibility and engagement. The prefects are stewards of the school, embodying the school values and empowering other students throughout every facet of school life.
As with any team, it was crucial to develop and understand the why of the perfect body. Having a clear purpose motivates and inspires others, while guiding effective decision making. Purpose ensures all members of the team remain focused on meeting the goal.
On the second day of the camp, the team discussed which sub-committees the 2026-2027 prefects would create, ensuring that each effectively connected to the Prefect’s why. Through committees including catering, networking, Old boys, communications, competitions, charities, prefects are empowered to build their leadership skills through challenge, event planning and coordination so that as a body we can provide further enriching experiences for the student body.
Oliver P
This year’s Prefect Camp was a great and memorable experience for the incoming 26/27 prefect body over the 2 days at the Collaroy Centre. With the help of our Prefect advisors, Year advisors, Ms Schadel and Mr Martin, we formed a greater understanding of our roles as the leaders of the school and developed a deep trust in the boys we will be serving alongside for the next year. Prefect Camp has taught me so much about the why of being a leader and the importance of working together as a unit to achieve our goals for the school.
