Secondary Sport

Term 1 Highlights

The 2021 Secondary Sport season is underway and already, we’ve seen a number outstanding performances from our student athletes.

Our year 7 boys and girls Volleyball teams both teams finished 2nd in their respective round robins. The boys started strongly with convincing wins against Mill Park, Whittlesea and Epping before successive losses, firstly to local rivals Mernda Central then a pivotal game against tournament favorite, Hazel Glen. The year 7 girls played a near flawless tournament, making short work of their first four opponents and were in a commanding position before losing to Mill Park in the third set tiebreaker of what was an absolutely thrilling match.

After weeks of dedicated training, our year 9/10 teams have also had their chance to prove their ability. Both teams played fantastically with the boys placing 1st and the girls placing 2nd in their respective round robins. Despite a late start and high nerves, our students worked hard and made use of our motto ‘As a Team’. Other schools commented positively on the teamwork and unity showed by our boys. The girls worked equally as hard and fought valiantly against fierce competition, with their attitude of never giving up or backing down. Team captains Tavite L and Bianca M need to be acknowledged for their great leadership skills and ability to keep their team together as one.

We are so proud of all our students who have competed in Secondary Sport this term and are extremely excited to continue sharing stories of our student athletes’ succuss with you in subsequent editions of Inspire!

Secondary Athletics Carnival

This term, we held our inaugural Secondary Athletics Carnival at Meadowglen Athletics Track. We were blessed with perfect weather for the day, and students were actively involved in both the Athletics and Novelty events.

It was a thrilling house competition, with Evans coming out as champions on the day. Jackson finished 2nd, with Rafter and Beachley making out the following positions. Well done on a fantastic day!
