Year Two

Hands on Math Activities

In Year 2, we love to learn new maths concepts by using hands on materials and games. Throughout Term One, we have been focusing on extending our understanding of two- and three-digit numbers. By using materials such as unifix blocks, dice, MAB blocks, counters, pop sticks, snakes and ladders and playing cards we have been able to build our understanding of number in a fun and engaging way. We have also found, we can learn a lot from our peers by sharing our knowledge with each other and working as part of a team to achieve success in Maths!

I like playing maths games because they are fun and they help me to learn.

SRC Representative Speeches

We were very excited to be given the opportunity to write a speech to show our interest in becoming an SRC Representative. The Year 2 teachers were so incredibly proud of the level of commitment the students showed to this task. The students confidently shared their speeches with their peers and although only two students were selected to represent our cohort, every student who participated in this experience did an amazing job! Congratulations to Grav G and Eloise C for being elected as our SRC representatives.

I loved listening to the SRC speeches because I learnt how other students could help us at school

Year 2 Drama Experience

We were very lucky to be given the opportunity to watch the Year 5 students act out their plays for us. We could see how hard they had worked to create their plays for us to watch. We laughed and laughed as the actors and actresses captivated us with their incredible drama skills. We modelled our SWPBS values by showing respect and listening wholeheartedly to the performers.

I liked the drama performances because I think it is good to see people express themself

Year 2 Hockey Day

The Year 2 students enthusiastically participated in the Hockey Program at our school. During the clinic we learnt the basic skills needed to play hockey. These include stickhandling, passing the ball, hitting the ball and a flat stick tackle. Once we had practised these skills we played hockey games where we worked in small teams and challenged each other to win the game! We had a lot of fun learning how to play the game of Hockey!

I enjoyed playing hockey and dribbling the ball with the hockey stick
