Primary Sport

Term 1 showed our school’s enthusiasm for interschool sport with our Year 5/6’s competing against a variety of other schools. For most, it was their first chance to experience interschool competition having missed out due to COVID last year. The Lakes competed in soccer, handball and cricket. Although not all results went our way, the girl’s handball and boy’s cricket narrowly missed out on finals, both teams finishing third.

Well Done to all the 5/6’s who represented our school each week!

In the meantime, during PE classes, tennis fever had struck The Lakes. Students from Years 3-6 participated in a month of tennis activities in their Physical Education classes. Students used the ANZ hot shot racquets and modified red balls to hone in on their hand eye coordination.

Students thoroughly enjoyed this with many borrowing racquets/ bats and tennis balls to practise and play during their recess and lunch. Some even looking into taking up tennis outside of school!

Did you know?

Participating in sports at school and outside of school is a fun way to increase a child's amount of physical activity, develop lifelong friendships as well as good habits to lead a healthy life.

Way to go Lakes!
