Secondary Art

In the Art room, lots of exciting and colourful things have been created. It is such a joy to see students back in our studio space, sitting with their peers and getting involved in different projects:

Aim High Balloons - Students across years 7-10 decorated hot air balloon templates with a focus on colour, texture and text to produce captivating motivational phrases that inspire ambition and confidence for the beginning of 2021.

Line Landscapes - Year 7 students explored qualities of line and how it can be used to create repetition and the illusion of movement. They then had to use different types of line to draw a landscape scene.

Metal Mirror Frame - In 8, students have their designer hats on in the Art room and are currently designing and constructing mirror frames for a particular client. We are using soft aluminium and students are embossing the surface with different tools to create patterns to decorate the frame. These are going to be very eye catching when they are finished!

Colour Theory - Students learnt how to mix paint to create secondary and tertiary colours in the shape of a colour wheel. This was a mixed media project where the wheel became an iris of an eye, thereafter students used 2B pencil rendering techniques to apply and smudge the material to create tone and texture. These eyes all look so unique and stunning!

Year 10 artists - we were all very excited to unpack and use our new painting easels! Students have been learning observational drawing and acrylic painting techniques to prepare for their first painting project.
