Something wonderful has been created in the Perth hills, premiering on Saturday 3 October and Sunday 4 October 2026.

The Arboria Chamber Music Festival (Arboria meaning of the trees) has grown from an idea Dr Emma Jayakumar had into a festival of fabulous, world class ensembles, singers and dancers, taking place across two days in various intimate venues across Kalamunda.

Included on the program is Freeze Frame Opera, Darlington Quartet, Australian Baroque, H.I.P Company, Robert Zielinski and Chimera Ensemble. 

The Darlington Quartet will also be premiering a new work Celestial Bodies composed by award-winning composer and Artistic Director Emma Jayakumar for string quartet, soprano (Prudence Sanders) and baritone (Lachlan Higgins).

A highlight of the festival on Sunday is soprano Emma Matthews AM and Chimera Ensemble performing an arrangement by Tommaso Pollio of Samuel Barber’s Knoxville: Summer of 1915.

Families with younger children are warmly invited to enjoy Big Little Ballet’s delightful performances of Little Red Riding Hood and The Wonderful World of Mr McGee on Saturday, 3 October.
