Week 10: Your Wellbeing Moment

This week’s focus is:

The Different Types of Rest

Understanding What Your Mind and Body Need

Congratulations on reaching the end of Term 3, 2026! After 10 consecutive hard-working weeks of classes, assessments and busy schedules, you've made it. Now you have some well-earned time to recharge.

These holidays, pay attention to what has taken your energy during the Term. Remember sleep and physical rest are both important but they’re only one piece of the puzzle. You can sleep for 8–10 hours a night and still feel exhausted if you’re missing other types of rest (like some of the following listed below).

Consider what might help restore your energy over the break, so you can give yourself the kind of rest you need:

  • Physical Rest: Sleep and wake up around the same time each day, recognise your signs of fatigue, take naps, stretch or relax so your body can fully recover from the Term.
  • Emotional Rest: Be honest about how you’re feeling at this point of the year. Feelings of excitement, apprehension and uncertainty are common. Remember to open up when you feel you need to let things out to a trusted friend, parent or another adult or professional who supports you.
  • Mental Rest: Take regular breaks if you’ll be studying over the break, consider journaling your thoughts onto paper, practice deep breathing (e.g., box-breathing: 4seconds in, 4 seconds out) or simply let your mind wander.
  • Social Rest: Spend time around people who recharge your battery and give yourself permission to spend alone time when you need it.
  • Sensory Rest: Put your phone down, step away from noise and bright screens and spend time in quiet spaces or outdoors in nature to reset.
  • Creative Rest: Listen to your favourite music, spend time doing something you really enjoy, draw or paint or do something fun without any pressure or expectations.
  • Spiritual Rest: Make time for quiet reflection, prayer, yoga or meditation or reflect in a way that feels meaningful to you.

Throughout the school holidays, this is your reminder to ask yourself: "Which part of me needs rest right now?”

Enjoy the holidays, make time to rest and see you all in Term 4. If you ever need support or someone to talk to, please reach out to your Head of Year or the College Psychologists.
