Year 12 Furniture Making Students Build Book Boxes

This year, our Year 12 Certificate II in Furniture Making Pathways students designed and built Book Boxes for Lesmurdie Primary School, putting their craftsmanship to work for the local community.

Working in groups of three or four, students collaborated on every stage, from planning and construction to finishing and presentation. The project gave them practical experience in communication, problem-solving and shared responsibility while helping them complete the Work in a Team unit of competency.

The completed Book Boxes will give Lesmurdie Primary School students greater access to reading materials. On Wednesday, 16 September, two Year 12 students represented the group at a school assembly, where they formally presented the boxes to the Lesmurdie Primary School community.

Congratulations to our Furniture Making students on the care, teamwork and skill they brought to the project. Their work shows how learning in the Technologies area can make a meaningful contribution beyond the classroom.
