Introducing our First Nations Caption - Ella

Hello, my name is Ella and I have had the honour of getting the opportunity through Lilydale Heights College, to start my cultural journey and understand my traditions and the land of my ancestors. I feel excited and privileged to have this opportunity to be the First Nations Captain. I am committed to sharing my rich history with the wider school community.

First day at Yarra Ranges Tech

On February 27th we had 11 deadly students go out on our first Koorie excursion. Students were introduced to Chris from Wiru Drone Solutions and then witnessed the impressive flying capabilities of various drones. Mason J, Spencer B, Rory O, Huxley B, Gem K, April K, Ruby C, Ben B, Jackson W, Ella B, Mary M and Cooper T had the opportunity to partake in virtual reality (VR) and 3D printing. We had an incredible day out and we look forward to our next one!

Cultural Day at Worawa Aboriginal College

12 deadly students went to Worawa Aboriginal College on March 18th and it was one of the best days we have ever been to!  We were privileged with a Welcome to Country from Aunty Lois (a respected Elder on our Country), a cultural walk and a Yarning Circle to conclude the day. Students learnt about native plants, history, culture and Aboriginal change makers such as Mollie Dyer and Simon Wonga. We would like to thank Brooke Kogelman who organised this day and made it possible.
