Year 9

March has been a chaotic month for Year 9’s, starting with our first CATs -
Science Infinity and Beyond CAT, focusing in on space and different theories about exploring space.
Maths Tic-tac-toe CAT, where we had a grid of nine tasks with points that we had to earn between 1-3 and we had to achieve 7 points.
Humanities CAT that includes looking at law and the court system, so our CAT was a paper test.
English creative writing in class, where we watched the movie, "Hunt for the Wilderpeople." We now have to complete a task involving going deeper into the storyline - the tasks include creating a few diary entries from a character's point of view, what happened before or after the film and finally rewriting a part of the film and changing the genre.
The Year 9's have also been doing quite a number of extra-curricula activities. On 3rd & 4th March, the Mind, Body & Soul class went to Clifford Park in Wonga Park and participated in activities that including setting up tents, going on a night walk, scavenger hunt and an obstacle course, while also having to bring food from home to make for breakfast, lunch or dinner. On 6th March, some of the Year 9 students started rehearsals for our College Production "Chicago" and it's been very exciting! On 11th March we had the whole school Swimming Carnival; it was a great day and congratulations to Samantha H. and Gordon K. (age group champs) for their amazing efforts on the day! We also had Brookley H. represent the school at the Yarra District Swimming and has now gone through to Eastern Zone - well done Brookley! On 12th-17th March the Year 9 students completed their last ever NAPLAN tests. Thanks to all the teachers for preparing us and troubleshooting any technical issues on our last ever NAPLAN!
