Message from Principal Sarah

It’s hard to believe we’re already nearing the halfway point of Term 3. As always, the weeks seem to be flying by, and there has already been so much happening across the school. Our students have been busy with their learning, while also enjoying a range of excursions, events and other opportunities beyond the classroom. 

I encourage you to take a look through this newsletter to see what’s been happening over the past few weeks, and don’t forget to check the ‘Important Dates’ section to keep track of what’s coming up. There’s still plenty to look forward to over the remainder of the term!

Parent Teacher Interviews

Thank you to all the families who took the time to attend the Parent-Teacher Interviews over the past two weeks. These conversations are an important opportunity to celebrate each child's progress, discuss their learning and wellbeing, and strengthen the partnership between home and school. We greatly appreciate your ongoing support and value the opportunity to work together to ensure every student is supported to thrive.

Staffing update

As you may be aware, Tom Drummond started the term as Acting Principal at Carlton Gardens Primary School. We wish him all the best as he continues in this role for the remainder of Term 3. 

Planning Ahead…

Pupil-Free Day – Friday 28th August

North Melbourne Primary School will hold its Professional Practice Day on Friday 28th August. Students are not required to attend school on this date.

The Department of Education provides schools with the option to schedule each teacher's allocated Professional Practice Day on the same day. This enables schools to make the most effective and efficient use of the time for professional learning, planning and collaboration.

Biz-E-Kidz will be operating a program for families who require care on this day. Bookings can be made through SmartCentral closer to the date.

2027 Student Numbers

Planning for the 2027 school year is now underway, with the leadership team beginning work on class structures, staffing and recruitment.

To help us with this planning, we ask that families let the school know as soon as possible if your child or children will not be returning to North Melbourne Primary School in 2027. Having this information early supports us to plan effectively for the year ahead.
