Australian Maths Competition

This year we had students from years 7 – 11 competing in the Australian Mathematics Competition. The competition aims to empower students to become better problem solvers so they can be creative solution finders in the field of mathematics. Students individually completed a set of online problems designed to test mathematical thinking. The problems became progressively more difficult through the competition, so that students of all standards could make progress through the problems and be challenged along the way.
There were a number of outstanding results for our College, with Faiza B (Year 7), Shiren J (Year 10) and Matteo T (Year 11) all receiving a High Distinction, which means they ranked in the top 3% of students for their age across the country! Marcus L (Year 8), Travis S (Year 8), Shahla J (Year 9) and Kevin S (Year 11) all received Distinctions, placing them in the top 20% of students. Kanav A, Amir R, Rayhana S, Harini T (Year 7), Steele H, Yagnik S, Nathan U, Dyllan W (Year 8) and Raymond N (Year 9) all received a credit result, placing them in the top 50%. All students who participated will receive certificates at upcoming Year Level assemblies to celebrate their achievements.
