Welcome to Term 4!
It is always astounding how quickly the school year can feel. I can’t believe we are in Term 4 and in the process of farewelling another graduating Year 12 class.
The majority of our VCE Vocational Major students completed coursework at the end of Term 3, with remaining VCE students attending this term to undertake a combination of coursework completion and examination revision. The Year 12 team has organised a range of VCE expert guest speakers to lead these sessions with our students. In my conversations with students, they have reported the revision lecture series to be very helpful. I am looking forward to our students sharing their knowledge through the examination period and being part of celebrating with all students through Term 4.
School Performance report
Cranbourne Secondary College has been recognised by the Department of Education as a High Performing School!
Each year all government schools are provided with a ‘Performance Report’. The report draws together key data sources as informants of student learning and wellbeing outcomes. There are four categories that can be assigned to a school: Developing (lowest), Medium, Improving, and High. In 2024, the College performance was rated as Medium. In 2025, this moved to Improving.
In 2026, our overall performance rating was assessed as ‘High’. This is reflective of the hard work of our staff and students and the support of our parents and families.
Thank you for your support in Cranbourne Secondary College being recognised as a High Performing school.
This is an excellent result, and I am looking forward to our continued improvement journey. The next steps for us include continuing to strengthen attendance and engagement through the implementation of the Victorian Teaching and Learning Model (VTLM 2.0), as well as improving our NAPLAN and VCE results and outstanding senior certificate completion rates.
Parent Opinion Survey
The 2026 Parent Opinion Survey has now closed with preliminary results released to schools. These results are very positive and reflect similar endorsements from 2025. I will share with the school community after the full statewide results are released. The statewide results enable us to compare and inform our understanding of areas of growth and further improvement.
Marrung Student Celebration Day 2026
It was a privilege to host the Casey South Network celebration day for our local Aboriginal community. The day included students from 25 local schools engaging in a range of cultural activities and learning experiences. The photo on the front of this newsletter features our students and Elder Uncle Shane after the moving and informative Welcome to Country.
Our staff and students supported the day in a variety of ways, including our VET Hospitality students providing the catering for over 300 people! I would like to take the opportunity to recognise the outstanding effort and commitment of Assistant Principal Catherine Gilchriest for her leadership in planning, organising and executing the day.
