Wellbeing Team Update
It has been a remarkably busy but productive term for the Wellbeing Team at Melba College, with the introduction of several new programs designed to support student wellbeing, resilience and personal growth.
One of our exciting new initiatives is the Foundation House Leadership Program. This program aims to empower students from refugee and asylum-seeker backgrounds through tailored group work, workshops, and mentoring. Participants develop self-esteem, public speaking skills and conflict resolution strategies, helping them become confident leaders and advocates within our school community.
We have also welcomed guest speakers from the Australian Institute of Sport, who have delivered engaging sessions on mental fitness. These presentations have been extremely well received by students and have provided valuable strategies for maintaining positive mental health.
We hosted our first two “Hot Chocolate and a Chat” drop-in sessions for all VCE and VM students. These informal, after school sessions provide an opportunity for students to connect with the Wellbeing Team, discuss any concerns and access strategies to manage stress and other challenges. We will see more of these throughout the year, particularly during exam and assessment times.
We have organised No Bull to deliver its popular RAGE and I CAN programs for next term as well as some additional Regulation & Resilience sessions for year 9s.
In addition to the proactive programs we have implemented, we have continued to support our students in both casual settings and 1:1 therapeutic sessions.
Our breakfast club continues to feed our students each morning, setting them up for a successful day, and we continue to provide snacks and lunch foods for those who find themselves in need.
We look forward to continuing to support our students throughout the year.
We listen, we care,
