Term 2 saw our Year 7–9 PE classes continue to build on their teamwork, communication, and game sense skills through a range of modified and invasion-based sports. Year 7 students participated in modified sports units including AFL, AFLX, Turbo Touch, and Speedminton, where they focused on developing fundamental movement skills, teamwork, and confidence in gameplay situations. Year 8 and Year 9 students explored a variety of invasion games including handball, korfball, netball, and tchoukball. Throughout these units, students developed their passing, movement, defensive positioning, and decision-making . Students across all year levels continued to build their understanding of game rules, strategies, and fair play while developing their ability to work collaboratively in team environments.
Our Year 10 PE: Sport and Recreation students explored the structure and functions of the musculoskeletal and cardiorespiratory systems. Students investigated how these body systems work together to support movement, exercise, and physical performance, while continuing to develop their understanding of how the body responds to physical activity and sport participation.
Pathways Through Athlete Development
In Pathways Through Athlete Development, students continued to strengthen their understanding of teamwork, leadership, and personal development in sport. Year 7 students developed their understanding of the skeletal and muscular systems and how these systems help us move and participate in sport and physical activity. Through practical activities and class discussions, students explored the important role the body plays in movement, coordination, and overall physical performance. Year 8 students developed their understanding of the different careers available within the sporting industry and explored the various styles of coaching that athletes may experience. Students reflected on the qualities of effective coaches and leaders, while considering how communication, motivation, and leadership can influence athlete performance and team success.
Health
In Health during Term 2 Year 7 students continued exploring the dimensions of health and wellbeing and investigated strategies they could use to improve particular aspects of their own health. Students reflected on how physical, mental, emotional, and social health can influence overall wellbeing. Year 8 students continued their exploration of Respectful Relationships, demonstrating ways they can engage more respectfully and positively in relationship interactions. Students explored communication and decision-making skills that support safe and respectful relationships with peers, friends, and family members. Year 9 Health students completed their Mental Health research tasks before beginning their Sexuality Education unit. Students explored ways to ensure their own safety and the safety of others as they begin to experience a range of different relationships, while developing their understanding of respectful behaviours, consent, and personal wellbeing.
Year 10 Health students examined how to make safer and healthier choices in everyday life, including in relation to relationships, drugs and alcohol, and injury prevention. Students explored strategies that support informed decision-making and promote positive health and wellbeing outcomes.
