The Rural City of Wangaratta is seeking nominations from young people aged 14–18 years to join the 2026 Youth Council.
As an advisory group within Council, the Youth Council acts as a link between young people and Councillors, ensuring youth voices are represented in Council decision-making. Members contribute ideas, provide advice on issues affecting young people, and help deliver programs and events for the community.
Up to eight (8) members will be appointed for a one-year term (2026).
Nominations open 1 September 2025 and close 10 October 2025.
To apply, complete the online nomination form at: Youth Council Rural City of Wangaratta

We have our third youth art exhibition coming in January 2026, at the Bainz Gallery (Wangaratta Library Foyer) This initiative was a project by some youth councillors in 2023, wanting to create something for the young people who were into art.
Our "expression of interest" is open now for any young person 12-25 who would like to enter a piece, or three of their art. It can be photography, sculpture, painting, or mixed media; what ever wonderful piece they’ve created.
They don’t have to be living in Wangaratta, as long as they come here for school, or sports, or to visit friends (work, live, school or play are our requirements)
