YEAR 9 CLC Program

C.L.C – Year 9's Building Skills for Volunteering

Our Year 9 Community Leadership Challenge students have had another big fortnight preparing for Term 4 Volunteering.

At Apex Park, the Risky Kids team put students through their paces on parkour challenges that tested bravery and physical skills. Standout efforts came from many across the group. Those named as being standouts on the various stations included Darcy Waide, Asher Hardman, Deliverance Sikoya, Brody Chisholm, Taylah Wyatt, Andrew Fraser, Mike Sheppard, Jeremy Bagley, Ryan Oats and many more. The day also included a CBD Scavenger Hunt, a Random Act of Kindness by Tarni White, and a river walk back to campus.

Last week, students enjoyed the Driving Range at Wangaratta Golf Club with guidance from Trevor Trimble. Highlights included Zeke Hogan’s long strikes, Darcy Waide pinging the 100m sign, and Ruby Barnard leading the way for the girls.

Next up is a Working Bee at Myrrhee Primary before students head out to volunteer with local schools, aged care providers, and community organisations in Term 4.

C.L.C – Kindness, Empathy, Excursion Season

Wednesday, August 15th was another big day for our Year 9s in the C.L.C (Community Leadership Challenge) program. Guest speakers presented Term 4 Volunteering Project options, including school alumni Shannon (St John’s Aged Care), Craig Kerlin (Appin Park Primary), Rowan Barrow (WDSS), and Wangaratta West Primary School. More organisations will present in two weeks.

Jas Harper and Kate Preston carried out our first Random Act of Kindness, giving flowers to a grateful mother and her sons in King George Gardens, highlighting kindness and empathy as C.L.C cornerstones.

Tennis Ball Golf at One Mile Creek offered fun teamwork under the Gum Trees. Andrew Fraser won with 16 shots, followed by Ryan Oats and Taylah Wyatt (17), Jackson Maskell and Nick Dark Jr (18), and Asher Hardman, Aiden Smith, and Will Sayers (19). Fraser, Smith, and Mike Sheppard each scored a Hole in One.

The day ended at Wangaratta Supa Bowl, where teams of five competed in Ten Pin Bowling. Top scorers were Asher Hardman (143), Zeke Hogan (126), Nick Dark Jr (120), Poppy Scholte (116, top girl), and Aiden Smith (100).

Semester 1 CLC Magazine

To celebrate our celebrate Semester 1 of our CLC Program, we proudly present the following magazine:

Rather than waiting to publish giant issues at the end of the year (as we did in 2023 and 2024), this year we will publish them term-by-term.

These "smaller chunks of steak" will be easier to chew on throughout the year, and also keep our achievements fresh in everyone's mind.

The complete whole-year Yearbooks will also be published at year's end, as we know a lot of you like to save them and store as a keepsake.

Thank you to all players, families and staff involved in both programs so far in 2025.

We look forward to another massive few months in Term 3.
