First Nations Report 

National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day 

On Sunday, 4th of August, we celebrated National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day. To mark this important occasion, our First Nations students in Years 7–9 had the opportunity to attend Closing the Gap Day, proudly organised by our local cooperative, BADAC (Ballarat and District Aboriginal Cooperative). 

The day was filled with celebration and fun activities, including damper making, a Western Bulldogs Football Workshop, Weaving, Yarning, Boomerang Throwing, and Dance. Each student who attended also received a jumper or t-shirt to remember the special occasion. 

I would like to sincerely thank BADAC for their organisation of such a fantastic day, as well as acknowledge our Woodmans Hill Secondary College students, who once again demonstrated our school values of Determination, Respect, and Excellence throughout the event.
