August has inadvertently become Economics & Business Studies month across 7 – 10!
Our Year 7's have just finished their inquiry into personal financial literacy, developing budgets, exploring the idea of opportunity costs, and exploring how factors like inflation can impact a personal budget. Year 8 have also concluded their unit on competitive advantage, considering how businesses use develop productivity to gain an edge.
Our Year 9's and Year 10's have been following a unit on market research, analysing primary & secondary data to work out the viability of different product. Year 9 researched fast food consumption by the Woodmans Hill Secondary College community to explore how businesses learn about their primary & secondary markets. At the same time, our Year 10's have produced bushfood brownies at the Ballarat Tech School that they then conducted market research with here during homegroups to find a winner.
For our Year 12 students, we enter the fast few weeks of our last areas of studies. Humanities teachers are offering lunch time sessions to get extra feedback. I've been really impressed to see some students make the most of this time, and I encourage more to take it up!
