Parent Opinion Survey – Have Your Say
Each year the Victorian Department of Education invites parents and carers to take part in the Parent Opinion Survey. This is a valuable opportunity to share your feedback about our school’s programs, culture, and communication. Your voice helps us to celebrate what is working well and identify areas for growth.
The survey is anonymous and takes approximately 15 minutes to complete.
The invitation has been sent via email with a survey link and password
We strongly encourage all families to participate – your input directly supports school improvement
Please note the survey link and password has been posted on Compass. Please login and follow the link.
Thank you in advance for taking the time to share your perspective.
School Attendance – Every Day Counts
Missing adds up to missing one day per fortnight four weeks of school a year.
The Victorian Department of Education highlights that regular school attendance is essential for student learning and wellbeing. Missing even a few days can disrupt learning progress and connection with peers. Some key reminders:
It is vital that students attend school every day unless they are unwell.
Parents and carers must provide an explanation for all absences on the same day (via Compass/phone/ text).
Patterns of unexplained or frequent absences may trigger follow-up from the school to ensure your child is supported.
When a Child is Refusing School
At times, some young people may find attending school extremely challenging. This is often called school refusal and may be linked to anxiety, social difficulties, or other wellbeing concerns.
If your child is showing signs of school refusal, here are some steps recommended by the Department of Education:
Communicate early – Contact the school as soon as concerns arise so we can work together on a plan.
Stay calm and supportive – Listen to your child’s concerns without judgement.
Maintain routine – Encourage consistent sleep, morning routines, and school attendance wherever possible.
Work in partnership – Reach out! Homegroup teachers, year level leaders & wellbeing staff can support gradual re-engagement strategies.
Seek professional help – Your GP or a counsellor can assist if anxiety or other health issues are contributing factors.
Please remember: you are not alone in this. Our school is here to partner with families to ensure every student feels safe, connected, and supported in their learning journey.
