Year 7 Report

Emily Beale

It’s hard to believe we are already in Week 6 of Term 3, with only three weeks left until the holidays! It has been a busy and exciting term so far, and our Year 7 students continue to impress us with their enthusiasm and energy.

Last week we celebrated the Junior School Social, and what a fantastic night it was! With the theme of Rock and Roll, students dressed up in style and enjoyed an evening filled with dancing, laughter, and lots of fun. It was wonderful to see so many students getting involved and making the most of the night.

Students of the Week

  • 7A: Zac for his excellent leadership in PE this week. Your enthusiasm and kind approach encouraged your group members to also give it their best. Great work!

  • 7B: Chris has made a fantastic start since joining Woodmans Hill Secondary College. He has quickly settled in and made a positive impact on his class by contributing enthusiastically, showing kindness to others, and being a supportive team member. Well done, Chris!

  • 7C: Charli consistently gives 100% effort in everything she does. She approaches all tasks with determination, positivity, and a strong work ethic, setting a great example for her peers. Well done, Charli!

  • 7E: Nadal is always doing amazing work, putting in a fantastic effort, showing kindness to everyone around, and always seen with a big smile on his face. Well done, Nadal!

Punctuality Matters

At school, being on time to class makes a big difference. Arriving promptly helps students settle quickly, be ready to learn, and ensures that valuable lesson time isn’t lost. It also shows respect for both their teachers and classmates. Developing good punctuality habits in Year 7 is important, as it sets students up for success throughout their schooling and beyond.

To support and encourage this, we are introducing a Star Chart system. Each time a class arrives on time and ready to learn, they will earn a star. Over the coming weeks, we will track each class’s progress, with recognition given to those who consistently demonstrate punctuality and teamwork.

This is a great way for students to see the positive impact of their collective effort, while celebrating the importance of being organised and ready to learn each lesson.

Important Dates:

  •  29th of August — Wear it Purple Day!

Wear it Purple is about creating supportive, safe, empowering, and inclusive spaces for rainbow young people. At Woodmans Hill Secondary College, we invite students to show their support by wearing a touch of purple and joining in a range of fun lunchtime activities. Please note, this is not a casual dress day.

  •  29th of August — VCE:VM Bake Sale

Our VCE:VM students are fundraising to purchase trees for the school. They’ll be baking a variety of delicious treats to sell, so don’t forget to bring along some gold coins and grab something yummy while supporting a great cause!

  • 1st – 5th of September — Book Week

Book Week is a celebration of Australian children’s literature, bringing schools, libraries, and families together to share the joy of reading and dress up as beloved characters. This year, Book Week runs from 1st – 5th September. Woodmans Hill Secondary College will be holding our Dress Up Day on Wednesday, 3rd September, with all students and staff invited to take part.

Thank you for your continued support of our Year 7 students.
