Science Department Report

Kaitlin Rundell

To kick off Term 2, we celebrated the effort our Year 8's put in last term, battling it out in their Periodic Table competition, belting out the periodic table song at school and at home to see just how many elements they could remember.

We had a significant number of students attempt to recall by memory and in order the elements within the table.

At last week's Junior School assembly all of our competitors who officially attempted to recite the periodic table elements received certificates and a small prize for their efforts.

We wish to congratulate all Year 8's who participated.

  • Princess Plantar – 66 elements
  • Lylee-Anne Brock – 46 elements
  • Amelia Kennedy – 41 elements
  • Iona Bulford – 36 elements
  • Semina Dhakal – 35 elements
  • Ruby Offer – 33 elements
  • Locklan (Loki) Robarts – 33 elements
  • Reuben Phillips – 30 elements
  • Garry (Charlie) Watling) – 27 elements
  • Olivia Vasen – 26 elements
  • Eliza Quick – 23 elements

The student with the best recall of the periodic table elements though, with an impressive 118 elements was Aiden Orr! This was the WHOLE periodic table!

Congratulations to Aiden on his perseverance and determination in learning all of the elements. Aiden also won a science book and a periodic table mug for taking out the top prize.

Keep an eye out for further competitions in our different year levels over the remaining 3 terms!
