A Strong and Positive Start to the Term

We’ve had a fantastic and productive beginning to the term, with many achievements and important initiatives already taking shape across our school community.

Yesterday our staff participated in a Professional Learning Day, which focuse on the high-impact teaching strategy of “chunking.” This method supports student learning by breaking content into smaller, more manageable parts, helping students to better understand, retain, and apply new information. What makes this learning even more powerful is the involvement of our student leaders, who will play a key role in communicating these changes to the wider student body. Their participation reflects our commitment to student voice and agency, and highlights the value we place on students as partners in shaping effective teaching practices. It’s exciting to see this level of collaboration between students and staff.

Another highlight has been the recent VCE: VM Hike, which was a resounding success. Staff and students embraced the experience with energy and enthusiasm, and it was heartening to see such strong displays of resilience, teamwork, and support for one another. The students truly lived our school values—looking out for each other, problem-solving together, and encouraging peers through challenging moments. It was a memorable and rewarding experience for all involved.

Looking ahead, a reminder that school-based immunisations are scheduled for Year 7 and Year 10 students. These vaccinations are essential in protecting our young people from specific preventable illnesses and are an important part of public health. With flu season just around the corner—and already showing a 30% increase in diagnoses—it may also be a good time for families to consider getting the annual flu vaccine. Please note this is separate from the school-provided immunisations and can be accessed through your local GP or pharmacy. Staying home when unwell and practising good hygiene will also help keep our school community safe.

Thank you for your continued support as we work together for a positive and connected term ahead.
