School Council Report

School Council Update

The way the dates have shaken out, School Council has only met twice this term, but – in spite of this – much has been happening. Local sporting groups – a cricket club and a football club – have expressed in interest in hiring the school’s new oval, when it is completed, and the Council has been examining their proposals, reviewing the school’s finances, and considering what arrangement(s) would be best for Melba College, going forward.

We have also been looking at the shape of school camps to come, across all grades, from later this year, all the way out to 2030, and acting as a sounding board (as well as giving final approval) for the ideas of the principal and teaching staff to offer a whole range of exciting opportunities for students to extend their learning beyond the school grounds.

Lastly, of course, the School Council is closely watching the progress of Stage 3 of the Melba College Rebuild, that continues to  unfold on schedule, with the new facilities on track to be available for our students next year. We’ve included a few photos in this newsletter to give our community a sneak peek inside the new spaces.  Enjoy!
