The Y9 OES class has had two excursions into the great outdoors this term and they are looking forward to their camps in term 4. The first trip to Toolangi gave students an introduction to orienteering - the course took them through thick, wet bushland and attracted the attention of many leeches! And while the screams of the students could be heard from quite a distance, the students had all followed instructions to wear appropriate long pants and tucked in socks, so no students actually got 'leeched'!
They also visited Wirrawilla Rainforest and Murrindindi Falls which showcased some of the varied environments found up in the forest. The second trip to Cathedral Ranges gave students a taste of challenging bushwalking and rock-scrambling as we climbed up Sugarloaf Paek and then traversed along the Razorback. Again, the students did really well, especially as many had never walked in such difficult terrain - I'm happy to report there were no strained ankles this trip and we made it back to school before home time for the first time ever for this excursion! Thanks to Mr Sinn and Miss Kim for coming along and being part of the excursions.
