Japanese News

Ms. Bianca Inoue

Konnichiwa everyone, we have achieved many great things in the Japanese classes in Term 3.  Our years 7s have been studying about family and pets.  They can now talk about who is in their family and what pets they have.  Year 8s completed their Hometown CAT, where they created a PowerPoint on the suburb in which they live.  This project was aimed at promoting their suburb to a Japanese person. There were tasks in Japanese and English. Many of the students achieved excellent results and were very creative. Year 9s have completed their Cultural CAT on School life. The tasks were to show the difference between Japanese and Australian school life. Some of the tasks consisted of a diary entry in Japanese and English and showing the different hobbies in both countries. The research component was for the students to talk about the differences in everyday things such as transport, housing, family and food. The results were excellent and the students all work very hard on this project. Our year 10s created Menus in Japanese and a Restaurant Role Play. Our year 11 Japanese class have been working very hard on learning to write essays in Japanese as well as be able to listen to, speak and read Japanese and Respond in English and Japanese.  This is an important lead into their year 12 Japanese studies.
