Library News

Ms. Christine Millington

This term has been very much focused on our senior students as they prepare for their exams. The Study Centre has provided a quiet and supportive space where students can concentrate on their studies, and we wish them every success in their exams and a bright and rewarding future beyond school.

There have also been many other activities happening in the Library, particularly during Book Week. I have to say that Book Bingo was a real winner, with students from many different year levels getting involved. Instead of traditional bingo tokens, we use book covers, giving students the opportunity to discover and familiarise themselves with new titles that have recently arrived in the Library. And, of course, there is the added incentive of choosing a prize from the basket of goodies for the first person who enthusiastically called out Bingo!

The Dungeons & Dragons Club and Anime Club continue to attract enthusiastic groups of students at lunchtime. A big thank you to Mr Laurie Sanders and Mr Ren, respectively, for taking on these clubs and providing such engaging activities for our students.

Our thanks also go to Mr Chan, who stepped in to run Homework Club. As well as the valuable assistance and support he provides to students with their homework, the promise of afternoon tea is certainly an added incentive and helps to encourage students to attend!

Playing cards, chess and a variety of other board games remain popular lunchtime pastimes, while the computers continue to be in demand for Minecraft Education bookings.

Colourful PowerPoint presentations provide an engaging backdrop for timetabled classes, introducing students to new titles arriving in the Library. These presentations also include wonderful glossaries of terms, helping to broaden and develop our students' vocabulary.

The Library continues to feature colourful and informative displays promoting current events, celebrations and significant days throughout the year, as you can see from the photos below.

We look forward to another busy and exciting Term 4.
