English News

Mr. Lewis Parrett

The first half of Semester 2 has been a positive and productive experience for our students in English. Term 3 signifies the point in the year where the intensity ramps up for all year levels, particularly for our VCE students. At the time of this newsletter’s release, our scored Year 12 VCE students will be in full-time study mode in preparation for their end of school exams, with English occurring on Tuesday the 27th of October. We know that the work that they are putting into their academics now will serve them long after the completion of their schooling.

Moving down the year levels, our Year 11 students have been diligently engaging in their various units, completing their SACs on Presenting Argument and Analysing argument, honing invaluable skills needed for the modern world.

Our Year 10 students have also completed their units on Argument and are now transitioning into a text study on one of the most famous plays of all-time, “Macbeth” by William Shakespeare. This will test their understanding of text construction and key concepts of theatrical writing, both beneficial practices to take into their senior schooling.

In Years 7 – 9, our junior students have been developing their core English skills to a high degree, engaging in a variety of units focused on textual analysis, the sequencing of argumentative writing and the creation of unique texts. We all look forward to continuing to lead our young people on their individual education journeys.
