Mr. Ben Hodgens

In Mathematics, we are continuing to explore concepts from across the six strands of the mathematics curriculum.

As students participate in mathematics, they grow through the four proficiencies upon which the mathematics curriculum is designed: understanding, fluency, reasoning and problem-solving.

Our mathematical instruction is designed to guide students through these proficiencies towards problem solving, where  they can draw on their mathematical knowledge to solve complex problems.

All mathematical knowledge is interconnected, and the more mathematical knowledge students possess, the more able they are to solve complex problems. When problem solving, we draw on information from many sources, bringing them together to understand and analyse a problem before determining a solution.

Below is a problem that requires knowledge from across the mathematical curriculum, particularly Number and Space. Have a go.
