Aboriginal Education

The Wiritjiribin Word

Our students recently had the valuable opportunity to attend the KARI Aboriginal Education and Employment Expo. This engaging event provided an important platform for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to explore educational pathways, career options, and employment opportunities. Through interactive workshops, information sessions, and direct connections with local employers and education providers, our students gained insight, inspiration, and practical advice to help shape their futures. We are proud to support our students in celebrating culture while building their knowledge and confidence to pursue their goals.

Still to come this term, we are looking forward to hosting our local primary school friends for our annual Reconciliation Week event. The theme for National Reconciliation Week this year, “All In for Reconciliation,” encourages all Australians to work together in building respectful relationships, strengthening understanding and creating a more united future.

Our event will provide a fantastic opportunity for students to mentor their younger peers while learning alongside local Knowledge Holders and Elders through a range of hands-on cultural workshops and activities. Students will have the chance to deepen their understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, strengthen their cultural leadership skills and continue building pride in their cultural identity and connections to community.

We are excited to celebrate this important week together and look forward to another meaningful and engaging day of learning, connection and reconciliation.
