Year 12 Major Projects Industrial Technology Timber

The above completion dates may seem far away, but they will be fast upon us, so it is very important that students be working on both PROJECT and PORTFOLIO consistently between now and then. As a guide, students are expected to work at least one hour a week on the portfolio.

Thank you to Mr Storey and his students Claire, Ryan, Matt and Josh who attended Open Night to work on their major projects giving our community an insight into our Stage 6 Industrial Technology Timber.

Shoes

All students require fully covered black leather shoes to participate in the kitchens and workshops for Work Health and Safety requirements. Students in incorrect footwear are unable to participate and will be set alternate theory work in another supervised class

Showcasing the work of Year 8

Timber

Our Year 8 materials technology students have been working diligently on their timber jewellery box projects throughout their first rotation. They are also required to concurrently complete a digital  E-portfolio as part of the project management and communication. After completing the mandatory safety and procedure modules before entering the workshops, our students have had the opportunity to learn new skills while also being trained on how to use certain hand & machine tools. They learn the importance of accuracy in marking and measurement, cutting timber, joinery techniques, creative design with inlay, use of hardware to enhance the function, and how to use abrasives and oil to finish the project. This is a popular course at Camden High with an extremely high level of engagement from our student’s. Also convenient with Mothers Day just around the corner.
