Book Battle Challenge

Our Term 1 Library Book Battle Challenge had a fresh twist this year with the introduction of Book Bingo - and it’s already been a hit with students and staff alike!

Students were invited to use books they read over the holidays, as well as those throughout Term 1, to start filling in their Bingo cards, displayed in the library. The best part? Books could be added to any category students felt they matched - encouraging personal choice, creativity, and a love of reading. From “a book with a big plot twist” to “a romance book” or even “a book you judged by its cover,” there was something for everyone.

In Week 8, we celebrated our first BINGO winners for Term 1. Congratulations to Charlotte, Matthew, Claire, Mrs White, Ms Kedward, and Ms Williams, who successfully completed a Bingo line by reading books across the following categories:

  • A book that is also a movie

  • A book I judged by its cover

  • A book I borrowed from the library

  • A book with a female main character

  • A book with a dark cover

  • A book about friendship

It’s been fantastic to see such enthusiasm for reading across our school community. The challenge is open again this term, and students are encouraged to keep adding to the Bingo card as they work towards completing the next line.

Happy reading, and we look forward to celebrating our next round of Book Bingo Winners!

Launching Our New LEGO Programs: The Think Tank & The Curiosity Lab

We are excited to announce the launch of two new LEGO-based learning programs at our school - The Think Tank and The Curiosity Lab

These engaging five-week programs have been designed to support students in developing important social and learning skills through hands-on challenges, collaborative problem solving, and creative thinking activities using LEGO.

Throughout the programs, students work together to explore ideas, solve challenges, and reflect on their learning experiences. The sessions encourage students to build positive social connections while extending their thinking in a fun and supportive environment.

The programs focus on developing:

  • Social connection and teamwork

  • Critical and creative thinking

  • Problem-solving skills

  • Communication and collaboration

  • Self-reflection and confidence

Students are encouraged to share ideas, test solutions, and learn from both successes and setbacks as they participate in exciting weekly challenges.

At the conclusion of the five weeks, students will be recognised for their efforts and achievements with awards celebrating both participation and completion.

We look forward to seeing our students grow in confidence, creativity, and connection through these exciting new programs.
