Mini-Modules on Canvas

Year 11 and 12 students now have access to a growing collection of Mini-Modules through Canvas.

These short, practical modules are designed to support students as they develop stronger study habits, improve their academic writing, manage their time, and prepare more effectively for senior assessment and exams.

Each Mini-Module is designed to take approximately 20 minutes (often as little as 10) and includes a brief quiz or activity to help reinforce the key ideas.

What topics are covered?

Students can currently access Mini-Modules in areas such as:

  • Study Skills: Practical strategies for revision, note-making, time management, memory, motivation, and exam preparation.

  • Academic Writing: Support with paragraphing, tone, introductions, conclusions, analytical writing, modality, nominalisation, and responding to marking criteria.

  • ALARM: Guidance on using the 'A Learning and Responding Matrix' to organise thinking, deepen responses, and move from description to analysis and evaluation.

  • GenAI for Learning: Responsible and effective ways students can use generative AI as a learning support tool.

When can students use them?

Some modules may be assigned to students at particular times, but most are available for students to access whenever they need extra support - either at school during a HUB period, anytime at home, and especially in those “I don’t have anything to do” times.

Where can students find them?

  • Students can access the Mini-Modules through Canvas

What can parents do?

  • Parents are encouraged to remind Year 11 and 12 students that these resources are available and can be used at any time to support successful study habits, strengthen existing skills, and develop more confident learning.
