ANZAC Commemorations

Alongside our school captains, student leadership representatives, and staff members, I was proud to represent Camden High School at both the Dawn Service and Community March on ANZAC Day. It was pleasing to see so many members of our school supporting an important community event.

School & Community

Our students and staff strive to achieve their best every day, and I regularly speak to all members of our school community about how their behaviour in public reflects on Camden High School. It was pleasing to recently receive acknowledgement from a parent regarding our participation in the Bill Turner Cup earlier this term.

“As a parent watching from the sidelines, I was genuinely impressed by the level of respect, encouragement, and maturity shown throughout the day. What stood out most was the constant support and positive communication between the players during games — not only towards their own teammates, but also towards the opposition.

Their kindness, composure, and uplifting attitude reflected so beautifully on the school. In a competitive sporting environment, it is easy to focus solely on results, but what I witnessed today was far more important.

These young women represented Camden High with integrity, humility, and genuine care for one another and those around them. Their behaviour was a credit to themselves, their families, their coach, and the school community as a whole.

I would also like to extend my appreciation to the coach for clearly fostering such a positive, respectful, and supportive team culture. It was evident that the girls were not only encouraged to compete, but also to lead with kindness and character.

As a parent, moments like today make me beyond proud to be part of the Camden High School community.”

Camden-Cowra Interschool Exchange

We are shortly about to welcome Cowra High School to Camden for the annual Camden V Cowra exchange. A tradition that began in 1972, the exchange is a unique opportunity that is highly valued by both schools.

In order to be eligible for the privilege of representing Camden High School, students have been expected to fulfill their responsibilities as learners who are respectful and safe, meeting high standards of attendance, behaviour, work ethic and participation. This has been continuously monitored, and will continue to inform eligibility and selection for the exchange in coming years.

After a narrow defeat last year, we are keen to regain the Robert Montgomery Shield, and I am looking forward to three days of fierce competition and rivalry, as well as the great displays of skill and sportsmanship that will be evident across all sports and competitions.

An integral part of the exchange program is the billeting of students. It is a unique opportunity to build lifelong friendships, and it is always heart warming to hear stories of past students and staff who have engaged in this aspect of the Camden V Cowra Exchange. Please take the opportunity to support our school and students by billeting Cowra students of possible.

Uniform

As we move further into the autumn and winter seasons, I encourage all students and families to purchase appropriate uniform items for the onset of cooler weather.

School uniforms play a crucial role in creating a sense of unity and pride among students. When students wear the same attire, it sends a powerful message: we are all part of the same team. This unity promotes equality by minimizing visible economic and social differences, allowing students to focus on what truly matters - their education and personal development. Uniforms also contribute to a safer school environment. They make it easier to identify students and visitors on campus.

I regularly speak to students about our visibility in the local community, and how our standard of dress and behaviour reflects on our reputation. Uniform items featuring the Camden High School logo are available from Yeronga Uniforms in Camden. Other acceptable uniform items are plain navy blue jumpers and track pants. Brand names and other logos are not appropriate to be worn at school.

We appreciate your continued support in ensuring that students wear their uniforms with pride and adhere to our school’s dress code. By doing so, you help reinforce our motto of “together we achieve” and our responsibilities as learners who are respectful and safe
