Term 2 Highlights

This term has already been filled with inspiring initiatives demonstrating Camden High’s commitment to leadership, inclusion, and community spirit.

Peace Ambassadors Shine in Leadership and Make Their Mark

Firstly, our Peace Ambassadors recently took part in the prestigious next phase of the In League In Harmony workshops. This well respected program brought together Peace Ambassadors from four schools across the state for a full day of leadership development. Throughout the day, students engaged in team-building and leadership challenges, including the thrilling “Island Challenge.” In this challenge, students formed different ‘countries’ with varied populations, cultures and needs and were tasked with collaborating and negotiating with other ‘countries’ to ensure peace and meet everyone’s needs. Our students rose to each challenge with maturity and skill, representing Camden High School with pride and distinction.

Behind the scenes, the Peace Ambassadors has also been working diligently to design a peace-building initiative for our school community. In exciting news, their proposal was recognised as a highly regarded submission by the judging panel, who praised the legacy this project will leave for years to come. As a reward for their outstanding efforts, the Peace Project has been awarded $1,000 in funding to support its delivery this term. The team is now working hard to bring their vision to life, and we eagerly anticipate the positive impact it will have across our school.

Reject Racism Day – Celebrating Our Shared Flavours of the World

In Week 3 of Term 2, Camden High proudly hosted its second Reject Racism Day for the year. This important event was led by staff and our Student Leadership Council, who united the school community in a strong, visible stand against racism by wearing vibrant Reject Racism shirts. This term’s theme, Flavours of the World, celebrated the rich diversity that food brings to our lives and our school.

During assembly, the SLC delivered a thoughtful message about how food connects cultures and communities, reminding us how fortunate we are to enjoy such a range of world flavours right here in Camden. The SLC also designed a beautifully crafted poster that is now displayed near the Sanctuary, serving as a daily reminder of our commitment to unity and respect throughout the term.

As we move forward, let us continue to embrace diversity, celebrate the differences that enrich us, and work together to build a welcoming and inclusive school community where everyone feels valued and respected.
