Music camp 2024 struck the right chord

This year, from 29th to 31st May, music students went on camp at Fern Gully Lodge in beautiful Healesville. This year was the first year that the Wind Symphony and the Concert Band welcomed the Senior Strings on music camp. It was a welcome change leading to a huge amount of attendees.
Over the three days, we undertook many rehearsals, working on old pieces and learning new ones in preparation for the Winter Concert and later the Victorian Schools Music Festival (VSMF).
We welcomed guest conductor, Luke James, who worked with the Wind Symphony and Concert Band. Luke came with a wealth of experience, teaching music and conducting many bands over the years.
In between rehearsals, there were activities such as high ropes and zipline. The first evening saw everyone split into teams for a trivia night created by senior students, which was great fun. Congratulations to the Front Street Boys for the win.
The second evening saw many students come to dinner, dressed in the camp theme “Stage and Screen”. Students then competed for best dressed before settling into the movie.
By the end of camp, everyone came out with greater mastery of their band pieces, a good experience and perhaps the need for a good sleep-in. We can’t wait until next year!
Below are some fabulous photos of the camp taken by Mr. Travis Easton:
