The second Junior School Badminton and Basketball Tournament ran from Week 2 to Week 8 in Term 2. Forty-nine badminton teams comprising 104 players participated in the contest. Meanwhile, 20 basketball teams comprising 161 players signed up for the event.
After six weeks of sports competitions on Wednesdays and Thursdays at lunchtime, this popular event successfully ended. All teams played like champions, demonstrating a great spirit of mateship and resilience.
We also had a small army of volunteers who worked as umpires, timers and scorers for each round. The student volunteers did an amazing job to get through all the games without any issues.
A big thank you to all staff who played badminton against the top six teams on 2nd June, and then basketball against Junior winning teams on 11th June! Thank you for training up our players. Teachers and students played well together and had a fun time.
Also thank you to Junior School and the Sports department for all the work you did in organising the tournament. Congratulations to the winners!
“We were excited to participate in the badminton tournament. Although we didn’t make it into the Final, it was joyful to play with our lovely teachers and watch Mr. Barca and Mr. Oaten smashing the Year 8s. Thank you to the people who organised it, it was good fun!" - written by Vaahin and Elliot
