Year One

 Celebration of Learning

What a term it's been! We've had so much fun learning together in Year 1,  here's a little peek at what we've been up to.

Literacy

This term we dove into The Day the Crayons Quit, a class favourite! Using this as our springboard, students had a go at persuasive writing, learning how to form and share their opinions in writing and out loud. Alongside that, we explored our knowledge-rich topic, Countries, Maps & Continents, building vocabulary and comprehension along the way.

Spelling & Phonics

Daily spelling sessions this term focused on vowel sounds and the many ways they show up in writing. Students have been blending and segmenting with growing confidence every day.

Mothers Day

In May, Year 1 celebrated all the special Mums and special People in our lives with a Mother's Day stall, craft, and lots of love. What a joy it was to see the kids so excited to give back!

Maths

In Maths we explored three big areas, addition and subtraction up to 20, counting and place value up to 120, and measurement (length, mass, and capacity). Lots of hands-on materials and problem solving kept things interesting and helped the concepts really stick.
