Wellbeing

Culture is defined as the shared set of beliefs, values, traditions, and behaviours that define a society, acting as the foundation of human connection. It provides a sense of identity, shapes how we perceive the world, and unites communities.
Critical reasons why culture remains essential include:
- Identity and Belonging: Culture provides a vital framework for understanding your heritage, which grounds you and gives you a deep sense of personal and community belonging.
- Behavior and Decision-Making: Through shared norms, stories, and values, culture acts as a navigational lens that guides our daily actions, social interactions, and responses in both ordinary and unprecedented situations.
- Social Harmony: Shared cultural practices unite people. They foster empathy, facilitate mutual understanding, and help break down barriers and discrimination by celebrating what makes us unique.
Preservation of History: Culture serves as collective memory, passing down invaluable traditions, knowledge, and historical narratives from one generation to the next.
Thus, the above shows why culture is so important and how it takes time to grow. Culture provides a sense of belonging which is fundamental for our physical and mental health.
At Holy Family, we have a strong school culture and sense of belonging and therefore, a lot to be truly proud of.
The students revisited learning about bullying before completing the Term 2 bullying survey and after interviews, the results very pleasingly, show further reduced results from Term 1.
This shows that our students feel a strong sense of personal and community belonging, they feel safe, happy, enjoy social interactions and see and experience kindness. It is what unites us and strengthens our community, providing our students with a strong foundation for connection, understanding, tolerance, and acceptance.
It is truly a joy working in partnership with you and your children. We hope you have a safe and enjoyable term 2 break.
