On 19 November, all three Sports Academy classes headed to Lysterfield Park to celebrate a fantastic year in the program. Students were split into two groups and rotated between mountain biking with Cycling Unlimited and canoeing/paddleboarding with Up the Creek. It was a brilliant day out, and it was wonderful to see students showcasing their athletic skills and working together in new and challenging environments.

For the second year in a row, each Sports Academy teacher presented the Sports Academy Award, which includes a $50 Rebel voucher. These awards recognise students who consistently demonstrate strong effort, a positive attitude, respect, teamwork, and a commitment that strengthens the program as a whole.

This year’s recipients were:
Year 7: Ryder Peirce
Year 8: Harry Bright
Year 9: Liam McConkey
Congratulations to all award winners!
On 10 November, the Year 9 Sports Academy class, along with Miss Dowling, visited Bounce to celebrate the end of their time in the program. It was a fantastic day out and a great way for students to enjoy one final Sports Academy excursion together. Students showcased their athleticism, supported one another, and made the most of the opportunity to have fun as a group.

Chase Basketball Interclub Tournament
On Wednesday 22 October, all Sports Academy students participated in an inter-academy tournament at MSAC. This event gave students the opportunity to put into practice the skills they have been developing throughout the year. It was a fantastic day out and a great experience for everyone involved.

End of Year Awards
The Sandringham Basketball Academy wrapped up a successful 2025 program with a Presentation Morning celebrating the year and all athletes/coaches involved. It’s been an incredible sixth year of the Academy with record participant numbers, highest retention from year to year, a number of Chase High-Performance Athletes selected and successful on court at 3x3 and 5x5 tournaments.
Thank you to our incredible coaches Chris, Jonathan and Rishi for their dedication and passion along with the Academy captains Mia H and Zeke J for their commitment and leadership.
A number of athletes were recognised with awards for their excellence and growth throughout the program. Congratulations to the following:
Certificate of Basketball Excellence - Noah G and Tyler W
Certificate of Basketball Growth - Elliot M, Henry J and Nrip P

The Netball Academy has had an outstanding year, with students showing remarkable growth in skill, confidence and teamwork. We were fortunate to have Inspire Netball lead the program again, delivering high-quality coaching each week. This year we also introduced a strength and conditioning coach to help develop players’ fitness, injury prevention and overall performance. Our athletes have shown incredible commitment, and it has been wonderful to see their progress both on and off the court.
The Soccer Academy has had a fantastic year, with students showing strong development in their technical skills, game awareness and teamwork. Futbal First delivered an engaging and high-quality program, pushing players to improve each week. The commitment from our athletes has been outstanding - training outdoors in the cold, wind and unpredictable weather is never easy, yet they consistently turned up with effort and enthusiasm. Their resilience and dedication have truly paid off, and we’re proud of the progress they’ve made throughout the year.
